Reflections

Overall I have really enjoyed this internship! I have learned a lot about the back bone of a business and how it is run. The owner and other managers are very helpful and there for you throughout the entire internship. The office is pretty laid back and all of the managers are very fun, young and welcoming so it was easy to have conversations with them without feeling intimidated. I was able to wear practically whatever I wanted to work, so some days I wore workout clothes. I was hired with about 7 other interns to assist in different areas of the company, which has been enjoyable and made the experience of moving to New York City even better. There are 10 managers right now, all female! It is definitely more implementing events rather than planning, but it has been a great experience to learn more about catering and how to work for a small, successful company.

I mainly worked under the event and operations manager, who I really enjoyed working with. We worked on putting together catering orders, creating invoices to send to customers and we worked different events where we provided cookie dough and answered questions about the company. I also had the freedom to research different event venues and catering companies around NYC and present these ideas to my supervisor.
